Sammy Joe Paul

Sammy Joe Paul, 87, of Kaufman, TX passed away on August 31, 2018 in Kaufman.  Sammy was born to George and Alice Paul on September 14, 1930 in Scurry, TX. He was raised and lived in Kaufman County most his life.  He began working for Star Brand Ranch when he was just a teenager.  He joined the army during the Korean conflict.  When discharged he returned to Kaufman and Star Brand Ranch where he was a faithful employee for over fifty years.  After retirement, he enjoyed raising love birds and cockatiels and gardening.  He was a member of the Seagoville Church of Christ.  Those preceding him in death are his wife of over fifty years, Lafawn Paul; parents, sisters: Faye McCormick and Sue Sherbert, brothers: George Paul, Jr., Billy Paul and Edward Paul, nephews: Ken McCormick and Billy Mack Paul.  Those left to cherish his memory are his sister Joyce Jones, brother-in-law Joe Dorough and wife Kay, nephews: Hugh McCormick, Johnny Sherbert and wife Sharon, Gary Sherbert, Jack Sherbert, Steve Jones and George Paul, nieces: Faye Rogers, Pat Jordan and Laura VanLoh and husband Dale.  He loved being helpful and thought of other before himself.  He will be missed by many people. The family wishes to thank Rosehaven Assisted Living and its staff for caring for him for the past few years.
