James Edward Nixon, Sr. was born on March 15, 1940 in Dallas, TX and passed away January 27, 2018 in Ennis, TX. James is survived by Shirley Nixon, mother of his children, wife Joyce Shears, sons: James Nixon Jr. and wife Shari and William Nixon and wife Tracy; daughter Lisa Hayter and husband Rex, grandchildren: Leslie Nixon Esker, Kalee Nixon, Crystal Lamb, Natalie Nixon, Amanda Tapp, Joe Nixon, Cheyenne Davis, Dalton Blazek, Logan Acevedo, Reagan Smith, Lane Acevedo, Shawn & Hailey Woody; great grandchildren: Taylor & Tripp Eskew, Lily Drake, Luke & Layton Davis and Winry Tapp coming May 2018 and a host of friends and family. James was preceded in death by his mother and step-father Elsie and Orval Whitten, Father Willie Jessie Nixon, brothers: Johnny and Herbert; sisters: Doris, Norma Jean and Mildred; 3 very young siblings and very close friend Wilma Cotheren. James was very proud of his service in the Marine Corp. The family of James Nixon, Sr. wish to express sincere thanks and appreciation to family, firends, church families and community for the expressions of love, kindness, prayers, visits, calls, food and support during this time.
