Mattie Pearl Simon

Mattie Pearl Simon, 73, of Kaufman, TX passed away at home on December 13, 2017.  Mattie was born to Tony and Juanita Gorman on September 16, 1944 in Kaufman.  Mattie graduated from Kaufman High School in 1962 and went to College at UCLA in California.  She moved back to Kaufman in 1983 where she would live the rest of her life.  Mattie served as an assistant to Judge Maxine Darst from1983-1994, from 1994 - 2016 she partially owned and managed several Dairy Queens including the one in Kaufman,  served on the city council for 10 years, a member of the Kaufman Chamber of Commerce,  was on the Appraisal District Board and served on the board of the Kaufman City Cemetery.  She was a member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church.  Mattie was a mother who never became a mother.  She loved and cared for anybody she came to know.  She was beautiful Southern Bell.  Mattie loved to cook and make crafts. Those who preceded her in death are her parents, 5 of her siblings and 1 great nephew. Those left to cherish her memory are her brother Larry Gorman, Sr. of Kaufman, TX, sisters Nita Cauley of Fort Worth, TX, and Addie Gorman and husband Khalid Hafeez of Kaufman, TX, 15 neices and nephews, 15 great neices and nephews and 6 great great nieces and nephews, a host of cousins and numerous friends who will miss her dearly.
