Allen Lee Lathem

Allen Lee Lathem, 59, of Scurry, TX went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born to James Columbus and Nona D Lathem on February 6, 1958 in Austin, TX. Allen married Margie Gail Polley on January 21, 1978 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Scurry, TX. Allen was a wonderful husband for 39 years, as well as a beloved father and grandfather. He was a manager for Hanson, a mining company, for many years. When he wasn’t working he was actively serving his church with his entire family. He was a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, children’s minister, Youth Director and Piano Player. For as long as he could he played volleyball and softball in church league tournaments. He is currently a member of New Harvest Baptist Church in Scurry, TX. Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife Gail, daughters Jennifer Reed and husband Grady and Amanda Leyva and husband Jonathan; son Josh Lathem; granddaughters Gabrille, Kiersten and Mia; sister Edyth Lafkamme and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
