Nelda Lou Dodson

Nelda Lou Dodson went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2016 surrounded by family in Kaufman, TX. Nelda was born on July 1, 1942 to Marvin Odell and Willie Faye McKenzie in Grays Prairie, TX.  She was raised in Kaufman, TX before moving to Ennis in 1985.  There she worked as an assistant manager for Family Dollar in Ennis for 12 years.  Nelda married Alton Dodson on August 1, 1958 in Belton, TX and they spent a wonderful 57 years together. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Scurry, TX.  Nelda was a loving Mother, Grandmother and sister.  Her father, Marvin, preceded her in death.  Those left to cherish her memory are: husband Alton Neil Dodson of Ennis, TX; daughters: Debbie Dearick and husband Robert of Ennis, TX and Lisa Weeks and husband Mike of Scurry, TX; mother Willie Faye McKenzie; grandchildren: Scott Stewart, Chris Stewart, Keisha Lindsey, Michael Dodson, Leslie Rendon and Kiesha Parker; 12 great grandchildren; brother Douglas McKenzie of Kaufman, TX; sisters: Sue Ballard of Poetry, TX, Vickie Johnson of Seven Points, TX and Sherry Roberts of Styx, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.  A gathering for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 from 12pm – 2pm in the chapel of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home. A Funeral service will follow starting at 2pm.  We will proceed to the cemetery at Ware Cemetery.
