ESTHER MARIE SMITH

Esther Marie Smith was born in Forney, Texas on August, 2, 1929 to Schuyler Jackson Smith and Violet Lurline George. Esther passed away in a Kaufman, Texas hospital on December 19, 2015.  Esther was raised in Crandall, Texas and graduated from Crandall High School in 1946.  She graduated from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas with two master’s degrees in home and family living.  Esther taught school at several different schools in Collin County.  She retired from teaching in 1996 and then moved back to Crandall.  She was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Crandall.  Esther was preceded in death by a daughter Gloria Jeanette Smith and a son Ben David Smith. She is survived by her sons:  John Paul Smith of San Angelo, Texas and Tommy Jack Smith of Littleton, Colorado, daughter:  Karen Ann Smith of Seagoville, Texas, grandchildren:  Jeremy Smith, Steven Smith, Wendy Thames and Samantha Smith, eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. The family will have a memorial service to be scheduled at a later date.
