Mary Louise Pickens Mary Louise Pickens was born on October 6, 1934 to Bennie "Buster"and Dorothy Pickens in Buffalo, Texas. Mary passed away on August 20, 2014 in Kaufman, Texas at the age of 79. Mary was a smart and talented lady graduating from High School at the age of 16. She later went on to graduate from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas in 1955 pursuing a Masters Degree in education. She started teaching in Dallas, Tx with her longest tenure at Grady Spruce High School. Her last years of teaching were spent in Seagoville Middle School. Mary loved teaching "her kids". She was a member of the Dallas Retired Teachers Association, Kaufman County Library and Calvary Baptist Church. Mary had a passion for genealogy and was a member of both the Van Zandt County Genealogy Society and Pathfinders Genealogy Society. She was also a past member of the Kaufman Historical Society. She cared about and loved many things some of which were animals, reading, and music. Mary was known to have a beautiful voice. She had many friends and for her close friends Birthday celebrations came with having lunch together. Mary is survived by her Brothers; Mike Pickens and his wife Becky of Buffalo, Texas and Dick Pickens of Buffalo, Texas. Many nieces and Nephews. Long time friend Patsy Grimland of Kaufman, Texas. Services for Mary will be at Buffalo City Cemetery in Buffalo, Texas Saturday August 23, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. Visitation will be in Kaufman at Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home from 6 to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Kaufman County Library in Kaufman or The SPCA of Texas
