Sallie Ruth Minor

SALLIE RUTH DOUGLAS MINOR Sallie Minor was born in Mabin, Mississippi on October 26, 1914 and died peacefully on April 15, 2014 in Kaufman, Texas. She was one of twelve children born to Lon and Lucy Douglas. She had lived with her daughter, Mary, for the past few years in Scurry, Texas. Prior to living in Scurry she had lived in Quinlan for several years and before that she lived and raised her family in Wilmer, Texas. A brother survives her: Lon Douglas of Meredian, Mississippi and a sister Martha Viner of Memphis, Tennessee. She is also survived by a daughter, Barbara Bridges of Abilene, Texas; Mary Madden and husband Alton of Scurry, Texas; and Alvie Minor, Jr. and wife Sue of Alto, New Mexico, as well as five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Her husband, Alvie Minor, Sr., preceded Sallie in death, her parents, two brothers and seven sisters. She was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church and often said that prayer was what kept her going all those years. Sallie lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every minute of it with her quick with and youthful spirit. She will be missed by all who knew and lover her.
