Emmett Byrl Smith

EMMETT BYRL SMITH Emmett Byrl Smith was born in Rocksprings, Texas on May 19, 1921 to Burt Lee Smith and Anna Beth Colwell. Emmett passed away in a Corsicana, Texas hospital on March 31, 2014. Emmett was raised in the Rocksprings area and worked for several different ranches in south Texas. He entered the U. S. Navy during World War II and after the service he began working in the oil fields in west Texas. He moved to the Kaufman, Texas area in 1978 and worked as a security guard for ten years and retired in 2004. On December 13, 1939 Emmett married Delia L. Williams in Campwood, Texas. Emmett was preceded in death by his wife Delia on November 25, 2010, Emmett is survived by his daughter: Barbara Martin of Longview, sons: Clinton Smith of Eustace, Emmett Lee Smith of Kaufman and Norman Smith of Kaufman, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and thirty great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
