ESTHER BEATRICE SMITH Esther Beatrice Smith was born in Kaufman, Texas on January 13, 1925 to Emerson "Eli" Nobles and Alma Hickman Nobles. Esther passed away in a Mesquite, Texas hospital on August 20, 2013. Esther was raised in the Egypt Community where she lived all her life. She worked for Kaufman County Sheriff Roy Brockway for four years as a cook at the county jail and also worked for Leisure Lodge in Kaufman for two years. Esther was a member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church. She loved reading and gardening. On March 13, 1948 Esther married Tommie Smith Jr. in Kaufman County and he preceded her in death on November 20, 2000. Daughters Alma Lou Rivers, Sharon K. Smith and Veronica Smith also preceded Esther in death. Esther is survived by her daughters: Sarah Brookins of Sulphur Bluff, Texas and Edna Smith of Kaufman, Texas, brother: Oliver Nobles of Dallas, Texas, sister: Geneva Gardner of Dallas, Texas, grandchildren: Ventra Dorch, Shenita Brookins, Jimmy Rivers, Keith Rivers and Laquena Smith, great-grandchildren: Dewitt, Antwon, Soloman, Elijah, DaVieon and Madisyn and many other relatives and friends.
