Gene Autry Garrett

GENE AUTRY GARRETT Gene Autry Garrett was born in Scurry, Texas on May 18, 1934 to Wesley Autry Garrett and Maxine McWhorter. Gene passed away in a Dallas, Texas hospital on June 19, 2013. Gene was raised in Scurry and then entered the U. S. Air Force. After the service Gene moved to Dallas and then in 1997 he moved to Scurry. He was a carpenter most of his life and was a member of the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church and loved to play 42. Gene married Martha Lou Sloan on July 5, 1998 in Scurry. He is survived by his wife Martha of Scurry, sons: Gene Allen Garrett of McKinney and Rusty Metcalf of Terrell, daughters: Rhonda Nabors of Grand Prairie and Lesa Tettleton of Kaufman, seven grandsons and one granddaughter and many other relatives and friends.
