GLADYS READING PARKER Gladys Reading Parker was born August 5, 1917 in Richmond, Tx in the home of her grandparents on the homestead of Mirabeau B. Lamar and died on April 3, 2013 in Terrell, Tx at the age of 95. She was born to Robert Roy Reading and Gladys Hendee Reading of Sugarland, Tx. "Parker" spent her childhood in Sugarland, Jacksonville, and Seagoville, Texas. She graduated from Seagoville High School. "Parker" had been a professional basketball player, a 4-H Leader, a Boy Scout Den Mother, Sunday School teacher, teaching assistant in the Terrell Independent School District, and a world traveler. "Parker" lived her life with the greatest enthusiasm and was always ready to go. "Parker" was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Raleigh Lamar Reading and her brother Glen Montan Reading. "Parker" is survived by her son, Darryl Parker and wife Elizabeth of Santa Clara, CA; her daughter Vickie Luckenbach and husband Carl of Fredericksburg, Tx; son David Parker and wife Shelia of Kaufman, Tx. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Martha Parker Hood (Will) of Houston, Tx, Shawn Parker (Misty) of Kaufman, Tx; Geoffrey Parker (Wendi) of San Diego, CA, Carly Luckenbach Jenkins (Keith) of Fredericksburg, Tx, Rev. David Luckenbach (Silvia) of Tyler, Tx, Brian Luckenbach (Casey) of Tuscola, Tx and Erin Toomey of Santa Clara, CA, twelve great-grandchildren, Freiwini Parker Hood, Bailey and Travis Parker, William, Jonathan, and Katie Luckenbach, Ethan, Joshua, Norah, Rachel, and Audrey Luckenbach, Makena Parker and a sister-in-law Cora Reading of Citrus Heights, CA, several nieces and nephews and many friends. She is also survived by Cynthia McKinney Gutierrez of Amarillo, Tx; Martha McKinney Shuttleworth of Mesquite, Tx; and Shannon McKinney Davis of Flower Mound, Tx. Pallbearers were: Jerry Burr, Bruce Wood, Neal Baker, Steve Davis, Joel Morrison, Mike Ballard, Chris Reading and James Crouch."Parker" had many friends who will cherish her strength, her perseverance, and multitudes of happy memories. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Terrell, Tx, Terrell Meals on Wheels, or another charity of your choice.
