JAMES LEWIS UPCHURCH James Lewis Upchurch was born in Rose Hill, Texas on September 30, 1935 to James Monroe Upchurch and Lillie Marie Myers. James passed away in a Mesquite, Texas hospital on December 12, 2012. James moved to the Scurry-Rosser area as a young child and was raised there. He later joined the U. S. Army and served in Korea and in Germany. After, the service James moved to the Dallas area. He owned and operated the Carpet Trends Store in Mesquite, Texas and retired in 2004 and moved to Quinlan twenty-five years ago. On July 7, 1956 James married Jean Carolyn Fortner in Scurry, Texas. He is survived by his wife: Jean of Quinlan, son: Gary Upchurch of Mesquite, daughters: Connie Lofland and her husband Keith of Sachse and Tina Upchurch Golden of Scurry, brother: David Upchurch of Seagoville, sisters: Doris Eastep of Dallas and Ruth Davies of DeSoto, daughter-in-law: Sherri Meyer of Rockwall, grandchildren: Jason Upchurch, Katie Upchurch, Brandon Golden, Kelli Golden, Kami Nelson and Jacob Lofland, great-grandchildren: Brianna and Addie.
