Murel Lee Birdsong

MUREL LEE BIRDSONG Murel Lee Birdsong was born in the Blackjack community of Kaufman County on March 16, 1929 to Samuel Anthony Stroman and Nina Myrtis Bryant. Lee passed away in a Kaufman hospital on September 23, 2012. She was raised in the Blackjack community and later moved to Kaufman after she married in 1946 where she lived the rest of her life. Lee worked for the telephone company in Kaufman for thirty-seven years before retiring in 1992. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kaufman and also attended Mount Olive Baptist Church in Scurry. She married Olen Birdsong in Kaufman County, Texas. Her husband Olen and a grandson John Robert Whatley preceded her in death. Lee is survived by her daughter: Carolyn Kidd of Kaufman, brother: Troy Stroman of Mabank, sister: Winnie Murrell of Mabank and many other relatives and friends.
