JACK STOKES Jack Charles Stokes was born in Gladewater, Texas on December 11, 1923 to Charles Walter Stokes and Wardie Beene. Jack passed away in Kaufman, Texas on September 2, 2012. Jack was raised in Gladewater and then served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. He graduated from Gupton-Jones Mortuary School in Houston, Texas. Jack worked in several funeral homes throughout Texas and Louisiana. He moved to Kaufman in 1976 where he worked for Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home for thirteen years, and then he worked for Eubanks Funeral Home in Mabank before coming back to Kaufman to help open Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home in 1997. Jack was a licensed funeral director and embalmer for sixty-five years. He was a member of the Landmark Church of Christ in Kaufman. He is survived by sons: John Stokes of Flint and Shannon Stokes of Athens, daughters: Beth Costlow of Malakoff and Laurie Boze of Kaufman, brother: Robert Stokes of Tyler, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
