JAMES ALVY WINGO "BULLY" James Alvy Wingo, age 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, August 19, 2012. James was born June 12, 1945 in Odessa, Texas. His Daddy gave him the nickname, Bully, which was used by many of his friends and relatives for the rest of his life. He began school in Jarrell, Texas, moved to Saint Jo, Texas for two years then the remainder of his school days in Kemp, Texas and Kaufman, Texas. He graduated from Kaufman High School in 1964. After high school he attended Tyler Jr. College and then joined the Army in 1966. James was part of the 101st Airborn Division. He was proud to serve his country and did his duty in Viet Nam. James married Patricia Jo McMurphy in 1967. He was blessed with his pride and joy, Shellie Jo Wingo, April 1973. James lived in Waco, Texas for years helping take care of his sick Dad and with his Mother after his Dad passed away in 1992. Shelby Massengale was born, August 29, 2003 and Allison Massengale was born August 28, 2005. These two granddaughters gave him a new name, POP'. He loved these girls and his new name. James retired two years ago as a Correctional Officer at the Boyd Unit in Teague, Texas. After retirement, he moved to Kaufman to make his home close to his daughter and grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, James J. Wingo and Ruth W. Wingo. He is survived by one daughter, Shellie Jo Massengale and husband Craig. Two granddaughters, Shelby and Allison Massengale. One sister, Patty Cave and husband Gary. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will never forget this loving, gentle, "big guy". BULLY, POP, or WINGO, we love you and will miss you. We know your home is with the Lord and we will see you again.
