HOWARD FRANKLIN RHOADES Howard Franklin Rhoades was born in Independence, Kansas on September 17, 1931 to Benjamin Franklin Rhoades and Edna McDonald. Howard passed away in Dallas on July 26, 2012. Howard moved to California when he was seven and later moved to Texas in 1945. He entered the U. S. Army on August 15, 1951 serving in Korea and receiving the Purple Heart. After, the service Howard came back to Kaufman where he lived the rest of his life. He worked for Southern Pacific Cotton Belt for thirty years as a driver before retiring in 1989. Howard married Bertha Estell Barfield in South Bowie on January 1, 1952. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Janet Renee Rhoades. He is survived by his wife: Bertha of Kaufman, son: Royce "Dusty" Rhoades of Kaufman, daughters: Debbie Wells of Cedar Hill, Tresa Rhoades of Addison and Pam Holtz of Kaufman, sister: Betty Smith of Aquilla, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home with interment following in Cedarvale Cemetery.
