Claude Gilmer

Claude Gilmer Jr. was born in Van Zandt County, Texas on July 2, 1929 to Claude and Lorene Brewer Gilmer. Claude passed away in a Kaufman hospital on December 10, 2011. Claude was raised around the Mabank area where he played the guitar and was in a country and western band that traveled Texas. Later he moved to Dallas in 1950 where he worked for Dresser Industries and retired from. Claude moved to Athens in 1985 and then to Kaufman in 1997. Claude married Joyce A. Sutton in Eustace, Texas on January 15, 1947. Claude is survived by his wife: Joyce of Kaufman, son: Claude Gilmer III of Lone Oak, daughters: Rosemary Jones of Sunset and Claudea Blalock of Alvord, grandchildren: Angela Cottrol, Jason Croom, Casey Gilmer and Christopher Gilmer, great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Matthew, Katelyn, Elizabeth, Nathan and Chloe,brother: Floyd Gilmer of Caddo Mills, sister: Carol Ann Toumbs of DeSoto and many other relatives and friends.
