Woodrow T. Holder of Scurry passed away January 3, 2011 at his residence. W. T. was born in Ambrose, Texas on April 27, 1923 to John and Rosie Owens Holder. W. T. was raised Bonham and later entered the U. S. Navy serving in World War II. He moved to Kaufman in the early 50's and worked for R. O. Evans. W. T. later opened his own Gulf service station in Kaufman. He started truck driving in the 60's and then retired from driving in 1988. W. T. lived in Arkansas for two years before moving back to Scurry in 1982. On February 14, 1947 W. T. married Mary Lou Evans in Norman, Oklahoma. His wife Mary preceded him in death on January 18, 1981. Three children Richard Holder, Janice Watson and Teena Holder also preceded W. T. in death. W. T. is survived by his sons: Sydney Holder of New Orleans, Terry Holder of Irving, Barry Holder of Grand Prairie and Ryan Holder of New Orleans, daughters: Kathy Lauti of Salt Lake City, Marilyn Hardy of Ramona, California, Diane Black of Rowlett and Lauren Holder of Scurry, brother: Kenneth Holder of Atlanta, Georgia, thirteen grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
