MERRION ALVIN BAKER Merrion Alvin Baker, 75, passed away April 20, 2010 at his home in Scurry, Texas after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born to Bud and Julia Lockaby Baker on September 13, 1934 in Scurry. After graduating from Scurry Rosser High School in 1952, he attended Henderson County Junior College, now Trinity Valley Community College. He served in the US Army, was a licensed pilot and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Scurry. He spent his entire career in the carpet business. After retiring in 1998, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking in his shop. On January 18, 1957 he married Patsy Covington. His parents and his wife of 46 years preceded him in death. Surviving him are his daughter: Cindy Shefka and husband Kevin of Scurry, grandchildren: Sean Hubbard and wife Jamie of Dallas, Dustin Hubbard and wife, Kathryn of Dallas and Sarah Holbird and husband, Dean of Jenks, Oklahoma, great grandson: Cason Hubbard, brother: Pat Baker and wife, Jo Nell of Scurry, nieces, nephews and friends.
