Florence Hazel Struck was born in Louisiana on July 26, 1922 to Samuel M. Lagow and Lena V. Hall. Hazel passed away in a Dallas hospital on June 17, 2010. She was raised in Scurry and lived all of her life in Scurry. Hazel worked for the Scurry-Rosser ISD as the superintendent's secretary for twenty-one years before retiring in 1987. Hazel was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Scurry. She married Fred Struck on May 24, 1946 in Kaufman County. Her husband Fred preceded Hazel in death on November 28, 1999. She is survived by her daughter: Betty Joyce Taliaferro and her husband Wiley of Scurry, grandchildren: John Alan Babovec and his wife April, Michael Babovec and his wife Chandra, Steven Babovec and his wife Tami, Sheri York and her husband Doug and Chris Taliaferro and his wife Sloan, great grandchildren: Hayden Babovec, Bailey Babovec, Avery Babovec, Austin Babovec, Seth Babovec, Laikyn York, Loryn Babovec, Ty Taliaferro, Wesley Smith and Kourtney Smith and many other relatives.
