OPAL FAY ABBOTT Opal Fay Abbott was born in Kaufman, Texas on November 18, 1916 to Robert and Lillie Stanford Stringer. Opal passed away in a Kaufman nursing facility on September 25, 2011. She was raised in Grays Prairie and Kaufman where she graduated from high school. Opal lived all her life in Grays Prairie and Kaufman. She worked as a bookkeeper for Penny's Gas Company for over forty years. Opal was a lifetime member of the Grays Prairie Missionary Baptist Church where she was the church clerk and a Sunday School teacher for over fifty years. On January 26, 1938 Opal married Thurman Abbott in Kaufman. Her husband Thurman preceded her in death on May 3, 1988. She was the last living child of nine children. Opal is survived by her daughter: Judy Mayfield and her husband George of Kaufman, granddaughter: Tamara Lynn Orman and her husband Kenneth of Rosser, grandson: Russell Arnold and his wife Billie Jo of Pittsburg, TX, grandson: Shawn Mayfield and his wife Tammy of Kaufman and Mike Mayfield and his wife Lisa of Denton, great-grandchildren: Ashton, Garon, Macy, Ashlynn, Dalton, Ansley, Hunter, Ranger and Miranda, sister-in-law: tommie Ladymon of Kaufman many nieces, nephews and four special nurses: Roseana Hunt, Twana Jackson, Gaven Jackson and Linda Day.
