J A Grimes was born in Dallas, TX, to Reece Park Grimes and Martha Jewel (Oxford) Grimes. He graduated with honors from Kaufman, TX, High School in 1943 and entered the Navy's V-12 College Program at Southwest Louisiana Institute and Tulane University. In 1947 he was honorably discharged as an Ensign and returned to Texas. J A married Sidonia Busby on July 16, 1948, in Kaufman and attended the Southern Methodist University Law School. After graduation in 1950, he joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent primarily investigating internal security and civil rights cases. He served in Baltimore, New York City, and Oklahoma City where he retired in 1976. He loved Country & Western and bluegrass music, played the guitar, banjo, and mandolin and repaired and restored vintage guitars and banjos. He and Sidonia vacationed at Blue Creek Lodge in Colorado for over 50 years. J A was an avid fisherman and loved the Rio Grande River where he caught trout even when others did not. J A loved the Lord, his family, his church and his country. Since 1959, he was a member of Crown Heights Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on numerous committees. He loved working and caring for the church. He was a member of the Gideons. Survivors include his loving wife of over 63 years; his children, Gary of Oklahoma City; Ronald, daughter-in-law Susanne, grandsons Jay and Michael all of Fairfax, VA; his sisters and brothers, Gena V Brown, Martha Roach, Reesie Drouet, Ken Grimes, and Jerry Grimes, all of Texas: and many nieces and nephews.
