Nell Hollingsworth was born on May 17, 1931 to Mae and Roy Stough in Grand Saline, Texas. She died peacefully on December 12, 2010 while recovering from lung surgery. She graduated from Grand Saline High School at the age of 15 and attended North Texas State College until she married her husband of 47 years, Harold Dean Hollingsworth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, and her daughter Susanne. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Hollingsworth and Paula Hollingsworth-Thomas and husband Rev, Steve Thomas, and her son Harold D. Hollingsworth II (Hal) and their families: Susanne's daughter, Ricca Holly Duffey and fianc© Johnathan Myers; Paula's children, Charles and wife Julie Thomas, and Elise Thomas; Hal's sons, Dean, Dylan and Jordan Hollingsworth; Cynthia's sons, Patrick and Gordon Sheehan and their father, Daniel J. Sheehan, Jr. and 5 great grandchildren. Nell was the second of 5 daughters and extremely close to her sisters Billie Sumpter, Rosemary Kinder, Ann Stough and Roy Evelyn Schoenfeld and their families, as well as Harold's family and their children. Her extended family also includes her dear friends, Charles Nolen and James Reed, her beloved physician, Dr. Michael Highbaugh and countless other friends. Among Nell's many, many civic and community contributions, she was Past President and Lifetime member of both the Trinity District of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs and of the General Federation of Women's Club, three-time President of the Clover Club, Lifetime Master Flower Show judge, and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Nell epitomized beauty, grace and strength and, by her words and actions, encouraged us all to be the best that we can be. She loved much and was much loved and will be dearly missed.
