Billy Gerald Starkes

BILLY GERALD STARKES Billy Gerald Starkes was born in Henderson County, Texas on August 31, 1929 to Oscar and Oma Allen Starkes. Billy passed away in a Dallas hospital on November 8, 2008. Billy was raised in Henderson County and later entered the U. S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. After, the service he received an associate degree from Henderson County Junior College. Billy became a Dallas Police Officer in 1956 and retired from the police department in 1979. He then began working for the Burning Tree Ranch as the manager for six years. Billy then decided to manage his own ranch. He was a member and a deacon of Calvary Baptist Church of Kaufman. On June 24, 1954 Billy married Sylvia Johnston at Tri Cities Baptist Church in Henderson County. Billy is survived by his wife: Sylvia of Kaufman, sons: Steve Starkes of Kaufman, Brad Starkes of Scurry and Don Floyd of Kaufman, daughter: Donna Harris of Mesquite, brother: Jamie Starkes of Athens, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
