Donald Kirby McClanahan

DONALD KIRBY McCLANAHAN Donald Kirby McClanahan was born in Corsicana, Texas on July 20, 1938 to Cambell and Mary Lou Wise McClanahan. Kirby passed away in a Dallas, Texas hospital on October 7, 2008. Kirby was raised in Kaufman, Texas and lived all his life there. . He graduated from Kaufman High School. Kirby played 3rd base for the Kaufman Men's League and started the Little League Basketball Program in Kaufman. Kirby was a former mayor of Oak Grove and past president of the Kaufman Rotary Club. He worked for the Kaufman County Cooperative for 37 years retiring in 1997. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kaufman. He loved fishing and hunting. On February 5, 1959 Kirby married Shirley Belcher in Kaufman. He is survived by his wife: Shirley of Kaufman, daughter: Monica Lynn Torres and her husband Hector of Kaufman, granddaughter: Alyssa Ann Torres of Kaufman, brother: Jack McClanahan of Plano and many other relatives and friends. Family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be the the Kaufman County Library.
