Marion Travis Bailey

MARION "TOP" TRAVIS BAILEY Marion "Top" Bailey was born in the Jiba Community on July 26, 1927 to Arthur and Lena Gronewald Bailey. Marion passed away in a Dallas hospital on November 12, 2011. Marion was raised in the Jiba Community and graduated from Kaufman High School in 1946 where he lettered in sports. Marion began working for Ford Motor Company in Dallas in 1948 and then later moved to Dallas in 1959. He worked for Ford Motor Company for forty years and retired from there in 1989. Marion married Burnette Phillips in Terrell on February 25, 1949. Marion had Burnette were foster parents for twenty-four years caring for two hundred forty-two children. Marion is survived by his wife: Burnette of Dallas, sons: Travis Bailey of Dallas and Tony Bailey of Frisco, daughter: Sheryl Shuffler of Mesquite, brother: Kenneth Bailey of Kaufman, sister: Verna Jo Sullivan of Dallas, grandchildren: Mandy Bailey, Hannah Shuffler, Charlotte Bailey, Caroline Bailey and Tori Bailey and a host of other relatives and friends.
