Betty M. Cody, 80, of Kaufman, TX passed away on May 19, 2022, in Forney, TX. She was born Betty May Grant on January 16, 1942, in Blue Hill, NE daughter of Howard and Marion Grant. She moved to LaFeria, TX in 1953. Betty Cody graduated from LaFeria High School in 1960. Betty retired from Trinity Valley Electric Coop after 35 years. After retirement, she worked as a substitute teacher for 1st and 2nd grade at Monday Elementary School in Kaufman, worked early voting and work at the State Fair of Texas for 10 years. She loved her church, Calvary Baptist Church, the Kornonia Sunday School class taught by Carolyn Mikeal. She loved to read, shop, ride motorcycles, travel and was an avid Cowboy’s fan. Betty was a member of the Eastern Star, Chapter No# 887, in Mesquite, TX. She leaves behind an amazing legacy with her daughter Sherry. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Howard, Sr. and Marion Grant, brothers: Howard E. Grant, Jr., Richard Lee Grant and Andrew John “Jack” Grant; and special friend Stevey Mayfield. Those left to cherish her memory are daughter Sherry Lynn Hayes Perkins and friend Kenneth Garvin; stepdaughter Cheryl Cody Scott and husband Anthony, stepson William “Billy” Cody, bonus son Clint Mayfield, estranged son James “Tooter” Hayes, Jr. and wife Sunnye, grandson Jordan McReynolds Hayes, granddaughters Sanora Lane “Pepper” and Katie Hayes, 2 great grandsons, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends
