Betty Jo Murrey

Betty Jo Murrey, 88, of Kaufman, TX went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2020, she passed away at home where she wanted to be. Betty was born on February 24, 1931 to Jesse and Hattie Scallons in Kaufman, TX. She was raised in Kaufman and went to school in Kaufman. Betty married John "Tuffy" Murrey on January 16, 1946, and they spent 60 years together before his passing in 2006. She worked at Rose Haven Nursing Home and Sun Flower Nursing home as a nurses aide and cook. Betty loved gardening, canning, sewing and crocheting, dancing and walking her dogs. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Her parents, husband, son John Thomas Murrey, brother Jesse Scallons, Jr., grandchildren: Johnny Murrey and Cindy Badgett preceded her in death. Those left to cherish her memory include sons: Ronnie W. Murrey of Kaufman, TX and tommy Joe Murrey of Austin, TX; daughters: Shirley Lee and husband Thomas of Terrell, TX and Peggy Campbell and husband Roy of Kaufman, TX; sister Robbie Whittenberg of Kaufman, TX; grandchildren: Kevin Lee, Casey Lee, Alicia Lee, Kristi Carver and husband Mike, Jesse Murrey, Valerie Campbell, Brian Campbell and wife Victoria; great grandchildren: Haiden Lee, Desirae Carver, Keana Carver, John Herman Murrey, Daniel Murrey, Adalie Campbell, Trinity Bates, Ethan Badgett and Christian Badgett; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
