Brenda Benson Pate

Brenda Benson Pate, 72, of Kaufman, TX, went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2022, at home.  Brenda was born on September 10, 1949, to Holton and Ollie Mae Benson in Kaufman.  Brenda was raised in Kaufman graduating from high school in 1968.  She went on to East Texas State University where she earned her bachelor's degree in education.  For 30 years she was a teacher for Dallas ISD and Kaufman ISD before retiring as a social studies teacher at Seagoville Middle School.  Brenda was free spirited as she enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in her roadster, cruising the seas with her family and spending time with her high school best friends for lunches and weekend trips. Her smile lit up a room, and she loved being social. Just a few weeks ago she was voted as resident of the month at Colonial Lodge. As a former social studies teacher, she stayed abreast of current events and held strong to her values and political views.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading the Dallas Morning News every day from cover to cover, as well as, various historical and nonfiction books to expand her knowledge of the world around her.  Growing up, she enjoyed barrel racing, playing softball and cruising Kaufman around the square and out to the Dairy Bar which was the teenager thing to do back then. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family at her home in Kaufman.  The time she spent with her kids and grandkids were her most precious moments. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Holton and Ollie Mae, son Chad Pate and brother Terry Lee Benson.  Those left to cherish her memory are children: Matthew Pate and wife Wendy and Melanie Bowers and husband Will; grandchildren: Marshall Pate, Holton Pate, Averi Pate, Wilfred Bowers, Jr., Pate Bowers and Ollie-Mae Bonnie Bowers; numerous cousins, extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
