Byron Lewis Dickey

Byron Lewis Dickey (Butch) was born on May 22, 1944 to Byron and Margaret Dickey in San Francisco, CA. He passed away on January 21, 2025 in his home in Scurry, Tx.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents Josh & Ora Graem, his sister Myrna Joy Keel, his Uncle Bill and Aunt Betty; and the mothers of his children Judy Greene and Donna Dickey. 

Butch is survived by his children, Lori Skipper, Connie Dickey, Joshua Dickey and Casey Aday; daughter in laws, Rhonda, Dana, Jackie; his 13 grandchildren, Zack, Crystal, Brandon, Heather, LJ, Ian, Blake, Miranda, Raelyn, Sailor, Byron, Ashton and Macy and 13 great grandchildren and one on the way, and 1 great great grandchild; his niece Debbie Purvis and her husband Jeff, nephews Billy Jack Haggard and wife Rhonda, Jesse Dwayne Keel and his wife Brenda along with several great nieces and nephews. 

I once heard it said by a man that the idea is to die young as late as possible. At the age of 80, it wasn't surprising to see Butch up dancing with one of the girls or boxing with one of the boys, or to catch him singing "You Are My Sunshine" with his granddaughter. Butch drove a truck over the road for over 55 years traveling many miles to provide for his family. He would always say he could drive to the moon and back twice with how many miles he had driven. His trucker handle was Countryboy. Butch had an extremely strong work ethic and instilled that into many of us. Butch loved trucking and horses but most of all he loved his family and that love never wavered, it remained steady & strong. 

For any family and friends the funeral will be on January 28, 2025 at 12:00pm at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home 2217 S. Washington St. Kaufman, Tx 75142 followed by graveside Mt. Olive Cemetery in Scurry, Tx.
