Carolyn Paulette Murrah

It is with great sadness we announce the death of Paulette Murrah of Kaufman, TX. She passed away September 23, 2024 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, TX following a brief illness. She was surrounded by immediate family who loved her dearly.

Paulette is survived by her husband, Don Murrah, daughters Leslie Wood (Larry Wood) and Amy Jackson (Kelly Jackson), grandchildren Matthew Wood (Lisa Wood), Rachael Maresh (Joel Maresh), Avery Babovec, Austin Babovec (Tiffani Babovec), Kelsy Jackson, and Michele Aguiar (Alex Aguiar), great-grandchildren Sutton Jo Maresh, Mally Faye Babovec, James Jackson Aguiar, Erin Wood, and Crew Maresh. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents Albert Paul and Ruby Aline Norris and siblings Geneva Cunningham, James Norris, “Sonny” Carl Norris, and Albert Lee Norris.

Paulette and Don met at W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas and were married September 26, 1964. Her death comes just days before their 60th wedding anniversary. Paulette loved Don, and she found him equally loving, steadfast and occasionally exasperating. She was fiercely passionate for her family and this extended to her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She delighted in every chance to be with them, especially in Galveston.

For many years Paulette was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Kaufman and was loved by all who knew her there. She served Kaufman ISD for 35 years, most as Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent. Funeral services will be held September 26, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Kaufman. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and will be followed by a celebration of her life at 2:00.
