Diane Prater Dickerson

Diane Prater Dickerson was born on March 29, 1951 in Kaufman, TX, to Travis and Sadie Prater. She joined a glorious, heavenly family reunion on January 12, 2021.

She worked for many years at Terrell Christian Academy and then the City of Kaufman.  In 2013, she retired to her happy place, her back porch, where she spoiled her grand-puppy, Lexi, rotten. In 2018 she left retirement and joined Jeana at Buttermilk’s.  There she became known as Mama Buttermilk.  She cooked amazing food and fed many with home cooking and love. Diane loved people and cared for her family deeply. She was an amazing cook that baked thousands of cookies each year for Christmas. She loved to antique, collecting vintage jadeite and depression glass. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Virginia Parry, Martha Lee Dickerson, and Patsy Prater; brother, Hollis “Sonny” Prater as well as a niece, two nephews and a great niece.

She is survived by her only child, Jeana Dickerson, and her brothers & sisters-in-Law, Gary & Martha Prater of Terrell, TX, and James & Liz Prater of Midlothian, TX. She is also survived by a special niece, who was more like a sister, Debbie Caldwell, stepdaughter, Angela Homan, many nieces & nephews, and friends too numerous to count including her best friend, Florence Vasquez.
