Ernest Polmateer, III

Ernest E. Polmateer, III, age 69, passed away at his residence in Kaufman, on Sunday, March 26, 2023.

Ernest was born on September 11, 1953, in Wellsville, New York, to the late Ernest and Rita Polmateer. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Abner University.  Ernest proudly served his country with his service in the US Coast Guard from August 1971 to August 1977. He worked as a vibrations analyst and was one of three people in Texas with those qualifications. He retired from Orange County Containers (formerly Smurfit Kappa Forney Mills in Forney, Texas) in 2022 following over thirty years of service.

Those left to cherish his memories are his son, Donald Edward Polmateer of Kaufman, Texas; a daughter, Laura Polmateer-Peippo (spouse – David) of Gainesville, Texas; one sister, Ann Carroll of New York state; and one grandchild, Cole Mormon of Gainesville, Tex.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Lucas and Jane Singh.

The family is planning a celebration of Ernest’s life will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery in Scio, New York. Those details will be announced at a later time.
