Eugene Marvin Walther, retired Dallas Fire Fighter and Medal of Valor recipient, passed away peacefully at S.P.J.S.T Nursing Home in Taylor, Texas on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Eugene was born in Thrall, Texas on May 14, 1935, to Adolph and Velma Walther. He was raised in Thrall and graduated from Taylor High School. He moved to the Dallas area where he worked for Otis Elevator and then later joined the Dallas Fire Department in 1961. He was also involved with the Kaufman Volunteer Fire Department.
Eugene received the Medal of Valor for heroic actions in the rescue of a 7-month-old girl from her burning home.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his son, Kelly Walther and his wife, Terri; sister, Joyce Beran and her husband Donald and son Todd; his grandchildren Thomas Walther, Elizabeth Green, Samual Walther, Rachel Didier, and Mary Jane Anderson; and his great grandchildren Juliet Catherine Green, Elaina Jane Green, Margot Marie Didier, Gavin Wells Didier, Griffin Andrew Didier and Charles Gilbert Anderson.
Those preceding him in death are his wife of 57 years, Carol Ann, and his daughter, Carrie Stevens.
The family invites friends and extended family to attend a visitation on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home in Kaufman, Texas.
A graveside service will be held Monday, July 15, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Wilson Chapel Cemetery with Last Call Honors by the Dallas Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations for the Kaufman Volunteer Fire Department
