Floyd Clemmons

Floyd Clemmons, a cherished soul who journeyed through life with warmth and joy, passed away on September 10, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Born on January 21, 1933, in Kaufman, Texas, Floyd’s life was a tapestry woven with threads of love, resilience, and devotion.

Floyd dedicated many years to driving a truck across the vast of the United States, experiencing the country’s beauty while providing for his family. But he reveled in the time spent with his beloved family, where every laugh and shared memory created an enduring bond that will echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

As a man grounded in faith, Floyd embodied the principles of kindness and generosity. His legacy as a Christian man is marked by his unwavering commitment to care for his parents for 81 years, a testament to his profound sense of duty and love. He was a figure of comfort to many people, known for his signature act of handing out suckers to those he met—a simple yet touching gesture that spoke volumes about his welcoming nature. With every encounter, Floyd had an uncanny ability to ease the spirits of those around him, making even strangers feel like family.

Floyd served his country with honor as a United States Army Veteran during the Korean War, where he made lifelong friendships forged in the fires of duty and sacrifice. His time in the military instilled in him values that resonated beautifully throughout his life, steadfast and strong.

His loving wife, Hazel, who preceded him in death after 36 beautiful years together, waits for him now, along with son, Terry Clemmons in a realm beyond. His great grandson, Jake Noriega also preceded him in Death. Floyd will be reunited with his siblings W.T. Clemmons, Herschel Clemmons, Helen Patman Green, Emma Clayton, as well as his beloved parents, Henry Lee Clemmons, and Mary Lou Clemmons-Bryant.

Floyd will be deeply missed by daughters Lisa Payne and Teresa Wood; his three step-children Darrel Hair, Carol Gideon, James and George Hair; grandchildren Shonna Huber, Christy Sanders, Scott Seargent, Jason Wood, Robin Pipes, Sheena Borden, Matthew Freeman, along with 17 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren; and sisters Effie York and Gladys Reavis who reflect the kindness and joy he imparted upon them.

Floyd developed a special bond with his grandson, Jason Wood, who has been the one to care for him the last several years.

In the hearts of all who had the privilege to know Floyd, his legacy lives on—not merely in the stories told or the laughter shared, but in the spirit of compassion that he so effortlessly radiated. As we gather to remember this gentle soul, let us hold tightly to the love he spread so generously, for that is the essence of Floyd Clemmons, a life beautifully lived.
