Gaytha Jane Thomas

Gaytha Jane Thomas, 83, went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2022.  Gaytha was born on February 12,1939, to Mack and Evelyn Welborn in Durant, OK.  Raised in Durant, she graduated from high school there, and worked at Durant Bank and Trust.  Gaytha moved to Kaufman in 1983.  She worked at Traveler’s Insurance Company then American National Bank and last Compass bank where she retired.  Gaytha enjoyed traveling especially to Choctaw Casino in Oklahoma and Las Vegas.  She loved her penny slots.  She would watch the Texas Rangers and her favorite games shows, like the Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune.  Her most precious time was spent with her family.  She loved the holidays and having family over for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Gaytha was a member of Victory Church in Scurry.  She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother and Sister.  Her parents, Mack and Evelyn, son Jay Thomas and brother Johnny Mack Welborn preceded her in death.  Those left to cherish her memory are daughters: Kim Chappell and husband Greg and Traci Raiburn and husband Jason; grandchildren: Cash Chappell, Rylie Peterson and husband Zach, Cayson Willeford, Layton Willeford, Callon Willeford and Larson Willeford; great grandchild Reese Peterson, brother Jackie Welborn and wife Pat; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
