James Ray (JR) Walker

James Ray (JR) Walker, 87, of Kaufman, TX passed away June 9, 2022, in Grand Saline, TX.  James was born on November 6, 1934, to Clarence and Pearl Walker in Muldrow, OK.  He graduated from Roland High School where he lettered in basketball. After high school, he joined the Navy and honorably served.  James moved to Dallas, TX in 1954 and drove a bus for the City.  While working, he met Margaret Morris and they married on February 7, 1957 and were together for a loving 56 years before her passing in 2013.  James worked for Southwestern Steel as a plant manager for 23 years.  When he retired, he started his own Lawn Care business for 18 years.  The family made Kaufman their home in 1994.  James enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He would sing gospel hymns or good old country music.  He had friends all over the world through playing his favorite game Farm town. He was an active member of the Walnut Springs Bible Baptist Church in Canton, TX where he served as a deacon.  JR was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  His wife, Margaret, parents, Clarence and Pearl, stepfather Conce Wilson, brother Harold Walker and sister Norma Jane Walker preceded him in death.  Those left to cherish his memory are children:  Pamela Bradley and husband Steve, Jamie Walker wife Janna, Russell Walker and wife Renee & Tracie Hunter and husband Lesly; grandchildren: Summer Rae Powell and husband Barry, Sabrina Gaut and husband Devon, Samuel Andrew and wife Brandy, Joshua Hunter, Meghan Bohlman and husband Clayton & Mindy Underwood; 7 great grandchildren; siblings: C.A. Walker, Wanda Harris and Joe Lee Walker; numerous extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
