Janis Faye Reynolds Boyd was born in Dallas, Texas to Herschel Melvin and Ina Faye Reynolds on December 23, 1952. She claimed she was the best Christmas present since she was brought home on Christmas Day. As a pre-teen, Jan spent a lot of time babysitting neighborhood kids and kids from church. As a teenager, she would have dinner on the table when her parents arrived home from work. While at the lake in the summer of 1969, Dean spotted Jan across the parking lot and the rest is history. They were married at Eastside Church of Christ on March 14, 1970. They began their married life in a small apartment in Irving. Jennifer was born in September of 1971 followed by Brian in December 1974. In the fall of 1978, Dean and Jan moved the family to Kaufman. Jan spent her time as a homemaker and was the best mom there could be. Fast forward to 1998 and grandkids started to appear. Ashley, Blain, Natalie, and Charlie soon became her world. She took the grandma role to a whole new level, and went above and beyond for all of their activities. They stayed at her house as much as they did at theirs having sleepovers, watching movies and popcorn, went to every Disney on Ice there ever was, and spent numerous hours in her pool. Jan spent her free time hanging out with family, working in her yard, traveling, and shopping. She loved to cook and could whip up a meal at a moment's notice. And then there was her famous chocolate gravy that was the grandkids favorite breakfast.
Jan passed away in her home Tuesday, May 23, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Faye Reynolds, her brothers Gene Reynolds and Alan Reynolds. She is survived by her husband, Robert Dean Boyd of Kaufman; daughter Jennifer Murrey and husband Britt; son Brian and wife Dawn; grandchildren Ashley Dearman and husband Michael, Blain Murrey, Natalie Boyd and Charlie Boyd. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her.
