Janis Laura Lindsey

Janis Laura Lindsey, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in Terrell, Texas, at the age of 87. She was born on November 24, 1937, in Rand, Texas to Tommy and Laura Turner.

Janis was one of 13 children and is survived by her siblings Frankie, William, Alice, and Lydia.

A woman of remarkable creativity and skill, Janis was an artist from a young age, painting stunning oil portraits that captured the beauty of those around her. She had a gift for sewing, often creating intricate clothing and costumes for her family and friends. She even crafted custom wood furniture. Her passion for baking was evident in the beautiful cakes she made for birthdays and celebrations. She shared her love of cooking by passing down treasured family recipes to her grandchildren.

Janis married the love of her life, Donald Lindsey, in Mesquite, Texas, and together they raised two sons, Terry and Bill Lindsey. She was devoted to raising her family with excellence, and her wisdom shaped the lives of those she loved. She was also passionate about local Kaufman politics and was always engaged in the community she called home.

Janis is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lindsey, her sons Terry and Bill Lindsey, her grandson Billy Lindsey, and her granddaughter Laura Boley. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Robin Lindsey, her grandchildren Taylor, McKayla, Bethany, Nathan, and Daniel Lindsey, Whitney Copu, Christi Crow, David Lindsey, and Robin Coss, her great-grandchildren Ruic, Tirzah, Tarryn, Zoya, Owen, Amos, Eli, Isla, Connie, Aubrey, Tanner, Drake, Hannah, Clay, Eden, Nehemiah, River, and Joy, as well as her great-great-grandchildren Loreli, Ellie, and Hayes.

The family invites you to celebrate Janis’s life on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home, 2217 S Washington St, Kaufman, TX 75142, followed by a graveside service.
