JoAnn Land Burk

JoAnn Land Burk, 89, of Kaufman, TX went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2025. JoAnn was born on July 1, 1935, to Nolan and Frances Wiser in rural Kaufman, TX on the Wynn Ranch where her parents worked. She has lived in Kaufman for most of her life. JoAnn raised 3 children, Cynthia, Susan and David. She brought her family to church at Antioch Baptist Church, now Southside Baptist Church, to provide a foundation of faith in God in their lives. JoAnn worked for the Kaufman Clinic for 18 years; an ad was placed in the Kaufman Herald for a night nurse, and she went to interview, got the job and thus her medical career began. She excelled in learning about people’s conditions and health; and thrived on doing things for others. She is an avid reader and a self-educated person. JoAnn’s experience in the clinic allowed her to serve as an assistant to the physician in the office. She also enjoyed going to concerts with her friends and continued to attend Southside Baptist Church for as long as she could. Her most precious time was spent with her family. JoAnn was a tower of strength for her children and loved her grandchildren with an equal fervor. Her great grandchildren provided a level of fulfilled joy she had never known. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nolan and Frances, daughter Cindy Sheehee and great grandchild Vance Underwood. Those left to cherish her memory include daughter Susan Williams and husband Terry, son David Land, grandchildren: Jillian Richards and husband Stewart and Laura Underwood and husband Michael; great grandchildren: Taylor, David, Cynthia Daniel and Vaylen; brother Charles Wiser and wife Barbara, nieces Christi Wiser Muto and husband Dan, and Ashley Wiser Lingo and husband Cody; great nieces and nephew: Jared Muto, Justin Muto, Brooklyn Lingo, Braxton Lingo, and Charleigh Lingo and numerous extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
