On Saturday, November 11, 2023, John Burnett Moore, Sr. took his last journey home. John was born on March 21, 1935, in Jacksonville Florida. John was raised in Jacksonville and South Haven Michigan. John married Joyce Faye McBride in Dallas on October 1, 1955. John loved hunting, fishing, and golfing.
John Served in the Navy from April 1952 until May 1955 during the Korean War. John was a 32nd degree Mason since 1968. He retired from the Dallas Independent School District after 29 years of service. For many years he worked at the First Assembly of God Church in Kaufman, where he was a faithful member and a deacon.
John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce. Sons John Burnett, Jr, his wife Charlotte, James Russell and his wife Tracey. Grandchilden; Jason Moore (April), Ashley Cook (Jay), Clinton Moore (Shelby) and Katelyn Moore. Great-grandchildren; Kolton Cook, McKynna Rotenberry, Jase Moore, Caroline Moore, and Lucchesse Moore. Sister-in-law Louise Boles. Special friends Phyllis Goodroe, Susan and Earl Towsend of Jacksonville Florida. Along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Evelyn and Clinton Buzhardt, sister Mary Self, mother and father in-law Thelma and Russell McBride, sister-in-law Juanita Spradlin. Brothers-in-law Clarence Spradlin, Edwin Boles, David McBride and Freddie McBride.
