To know Jourden is to love her and once she met you, she loved you too.
Jourden was born in Sacramento, California on October 16, 1949 to Margie and Jack Ross and grew up in Roswell, New Mexico with her sisters Judy, Jan and brother Johnny. There she met the love of her life Jimmy Dunn. After Jimmy returned from Vietnam, they moved to Texas and set up their life in Grays Prairie with their children Janese, Joshua and Caitlyn.
Jourden loved her community, her church, Scurry Rosser sports, board games and most importantly her family and friends.
You always knew when she was in the stands at sporting events as you could hear her voice cheering on the team. She also used her voice to represent so many in her role on the Scurry Rosser School Board and advocate for students and those who needed a voice. She was always the first one to offer a lending hand, an ear to listen, a prayer and a big hug.
She gave her time in so many ways through her work with Cottonwood Baptist Church, where she was a member since 2003, Meals on Wheels, Mission Trips and numerous other organizations.
She would do anything for anyone and especially for her children and her grandchildren Jacob, Caroline, Jackson and Cooper who she loved so much. Whether attending their band performances, cheering on their sports, school performances or just sitting around the table playing cards or board games, that is where she was the happiest.
Jourden would not want you to be sad that she isn’t with us but instead would want you to celebrate life, the memories you made with her, and love the Lord.
She is survived by her husband Jimmy Dunn of Grays Prairie, Texas, daughter Janese and her husband Robert Houde of Syracuse, son Joshua and his wife Jessica Dunn of Gunter, Texas, daughter Caitlyn Dunn of Grays Prairie, Texas, grandson Jacob Oliver of McKinney, Texas, granddaughter Caroline Oliver and her fiancé Jonathan Parker of Temple, Texas, grandson Jackson Dunn of Gunter, Texas, Cooper Dunn of Gunter, Texas, sister Judy Fletcher of Albuquerque New Mexico, and nephews and nieces Jason Ross, Matt Ross, Joey Ross, Shannon Kincaid, Sean Fletcher, and Ryan Makkonen and their family.
We invite you to join us as we celebrate her life Victory Church in Scurry Texas on August 15th, 2023 at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Cottonwood Baptist Church in her honor. Please send them to PO Box 267, Scurry Texas 75158.
