Kyle Mack Adams, 83, of Crandall Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 surrounded by family and loved ones.
Anyone who knew Kyle, knew most of his stories would start out with “Well, I tell you what….” And you might as well get another cup of coffee because you might be there while. This is his story….
Kyle was born March 5, 1939, in Cooper, Texas to Garth and Emilene (Oates) Adams. The family moved to Hurley, South Dakota, in 1943, where Kyle grew up. He had several good buddies that remained life-long friends and Kyle shared many stories of their shenanigans and pranks conducted all around town. Kyle worked alongside his father at the DX Service station they owned. He also helped with farming operations of his parent’s friends in the area. Kyle excelled in sports in high school and fondly remembered his ‘Glory Days’ of playing on both the Hurley football and basketball teams and reminiscing of memorable games and state championship trips. Kyle graduated from High School in 1957 with the title of Homecoming King his senior year.
After graduation, Kyle married Nancy Falck also of Hurley and together they moved to Carrollton, Texas. As Kyle would say “I was not cut out to be a farmer or live in those damn cold South Dakota winters.” To this union their son Greg was born.
In 1965, he re-married and to this union he had three children; Kyle Jr, Lisa (Harris) and Chad.
In 1996, Kyle married Sammie Jo, the love of his life and together they built their life in Crandall. He embraced and loved his blended family with Sammie’s children David Shipley and Dawn (Brooke) Smith also of Crandall.
Over the years, Kyle owned a nursery, landscaping and lawn service company in the Dallas area. Later he started an excavating service developing housing pads for area homebuilders and developers. Kyle enjoyed working right up until he was 82 and up until the age of 80, he could be found up on a tractor moving dirt!
Easy going, quick with a joke or a story, there is no doubt that Kyle is advising Angels now on how to yield brighter blooms, assessing the grass while simultaneously telling a very entertaining story.
Kyle loved watching football and we are quite sure he is waiting on that blue and silver team we all know he loved, The Dallas Cowboys, to kick off.
Kyle battled fiercely as his health declined from complications of lung cancer. We are grateful his independence is now restored through our Lord and Savior.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Sammie Jo of Crandall. His son Greg (Annette) Adams of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, son Kyle Adams Jr., daughter Lisa (Warren) Harris of Crandall and son Chad Adams of Fort Worth. Step-son David Shipley and his significant other Debra of Crandall and step-daughter, Dawn (Brooke) Smith of Crandall, Texas.
Grandsons Kyle III (Katherine) Adams of Grandbury, Texas; Chaz Adams of Littleton, Colorado. Grand-daughters Tayler (Tyler) Gray and great-grandson, Oak of Forney, Alex (Mitchell) Williams of Forney and Kylene Terry of Temple and Jade Adams of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and; together with Sammie’s grandchildren John Shipley of Bozeman, Montana, Hollie (Diego) Chaparro of Anna, Texas. Daniel (Kasie) Smith and great-grandchildren Breslin, Britton and Brinley of Rockwall, Texas and Kirbie Smith and Christian Olivo and Max of Los Angeles, California.
Kyle was preceded in death by his parents Garth and Emilene “Lene” Adams of Hurley, South Dakota and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
