Laurie Greenslade Harris

Laurie Greenslade Harris, a devoted wife, cherished mother, and beloved grandmother, passed away at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas, on September16, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on November 13, 1958, in Kaufman, Texas, Laurie was a pillar of strength and an inspiration to all who knew her. 

Laurie’s academic journey began at Kaufman High School, where she excelled and graduated as Salutatorian in 1977. Her commitment to education continued as she attended Texas Women’s University, where she achieved high honors, graduating Magna cum laude in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Laurie's pursuit of knowledge led her to further her studies at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine – North Texas, from which she graduated in 1984. Following her medical education, Laurie completed her internship at Dallas/FW Medical Center Arlington, laying the foundation for a career dedicated to healing and caring for others.

In her personal life, Laurie shared a profound partnership with her husband, Mark Steven Harris, with whom she celebrated 43 loving years of marriage. Together, they fostered a nurturing household filled with love and support, raising two daughters who carry forward her legacy. Laurie is survived by her spouse, Mark; her children, Sarah Harris Herndon and Christina D’Ann Harris; her granddaughter, Magnolia Belle Herndon; and her grandson, Rhett Harrison Herndon.

Laurie is also survived by her mother, Donnie Dee Yvonne Munson; her sister, Wendy Lynn Manning; her brother, Layne Wendel Greenslade; along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members who will remember her.

Laurie’s ashes will be inurned at Lone Oak Cemetery – Becker Community, where family and friends can reflect on her extraordinary life and the many lives she touched.

Laurie Greenslade Harris will be profoundly missed, yet her memory will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
