Mary Beth Bolton, better call her Beth; she would get testy and say, “Mary is my mother’s name, call me Beth,’ was born on a cool day on March 22, 1957 to Jesse Merrell Lindsey and a very spunky Mary Alma McKenzie – yes, the REAL Mary. She would be the second of four children.
Beth had an older brother, Rick, who passed away in 2000, a younger sister, Laurie, who passed away in 2013, and her “baby brother” Sam, as she called him, who passed away in 2021.
When not helping to raise her siblings and raising some Scurry Rosser hell, she was active in the drill team, choir and a multitude of church functions. Beth was always quick to be a giving hand or pass out hugs to anyone in need.
During the groovy1970’s, she married Rooster and begin to grow a beautiful family all for herself. Her favorite daughter, Jennifer, was born. Soon followed her middle child, oh, what’s her name? Oh, yeah, Alisha, that’s right.
The 1980’s not only brought her big hair, but the end of her previous marriage and the start to her marriage with James. The new favorite daughter – Jennifer who? – Ashley made her arrival a short time later.
Beth was a devout Christian, who at the end of her time, joined her brothers and sister, her mama and dad, her beloved Granny and Pa, and many more cherished loved ones. She saw more death than life, but remained ever steadfast in her love of Jesus.
Her “girls” as she called them were only second to her devotion and love to her grandbabies. Oh, how she loved them with more vigor than the moon loves the stars. They gave her a new breath, a new energy and a true unconditional love.
On a cool evening on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, and after a quick but fierce battle with cancer, Beth took her final breath and went home to be with the Lord and gain her well-deserved crown.
To continue her legacy, wit and humor (sorry spouses), stories of days gone by and love, are her daughters, Jennifer Pinson and husband Curtis of Terrell, TX, Alisha Pelham and husband Nate of Jacobia, TX, and Ashley Bolton and wife Courtney of Crandall, TX. All daughters were blessed and forever grateful to be able to take care of their mom without reservation during her darkest of hours. They couldn’t have done it without her life-long friend, Sharon and her best friend, Jodi, who were also at her bedside as she took her final breaths.
Her beloved grandchildren, Bailey, Caleb, Zachary, Abigayle, Lucas, Jackson, Kinsley and Musette will forever remain the loves of her life. Beth also leaves behind her canine companions, Callie and Bo, alone with numerous grand dogs and grand cats.
Beth loved many people in her life that coined “bonus.” She had her bonus grandson and several bonus daughters who loved her as we do.
And lastly, but certainly not least, she leaves behind her backbone and her second family: everyone at Victory Church.
Today we do not grieve, but we celebrate her life and all of the beautiful things she left behind.
I’d like to say the whole “in-lieu of” thing, but I can’t. Mom LOVED her plants and flowers. If you do choose to send anything, please send plants or trees. This would be a way for us to bring something beautiful back to our homes and nurture them the way she would.
