Mary L. Hatcher, 76, of Scurry, TX went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2024. Mary was born on December 30, 1947, to Buford and Georgia Carpenter in Kaufman, TX. She graduated from Crandall High School in 1966. Mary worked as a Quartermaster for the Dallas Police Department where she retired. After retirement, she was a substitute teacher for several districts, most of which was spent in Mabank. On March 1, 1985, she married Billy Hatcher, and they spent 35 years together before he passed away on August 10, 2020. Mary enjoyed bowling, reading, and watching game shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She also spent time watching her favorite sports teams, especially the Dallas Mavericks. Mary was a member of Victory Baptist Church Seagoville. She had a strong faith and belief in God’s Word and lived her life that way. Her most precious time was spent with her grandchildren. The biggest thing in her life, what brought her the most joy was being a “Mimi”. Mary was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Sister. Her parents, Buford and Georgia, husband Billy, siblings: Billie Waites and husband Earnest, Robbie Kovar and husband Steve, Lindy Isbell and husband John; and great grandchild Halen Mitchell preceded her in death. Those left to cherish her memory are children: Clay Stevens and wife Julie, Eric Stevens and wife Lori, Billy Heath Hatcher and wife Sherry and Clayton Hatcher and wife Missy; grandchildren: Drew Stevens and wife Courtney, Michael Heath, David Heath, Cole Stevens, Alyssa Hatcher, Thaddeus Hatcher, Tyler Stevens, Travis Stevens, Brittany Guy and husband Alec, and Carson Hatcher; great grandchildren: Ellie Stevens, Olivia Stevens, Brantley Hatcher, Hadley Mitchell and Charlotte Guy; brother Buford Carpenter; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
