Melinda Salazar Schmidt, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away on April 30, 2024, in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was born on January 12, 1942, in Tacloban City, Philippines. Melinda leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a profound impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
 
Melinda was known for her vibrant personality - spunky and with an enthusiastic sense of humor that could light up any room. Her loyalty to family and friends was unwavering, and she always found joy in spending time with her loved ones. Melinda's passion for life shone through in her hobbies and interests; she enjoyed hosting "poker nights" with her family, indulging in crime books, and watching crime stories on television. Her signature big sunglasses and large handbags were a reflection of her bold and stylish demeanor.
 
She is survived by her loving sons Chad Schmidt (spouse – Kristy), and Morgan Schmidt, daughter Shanna Schmidt Bass, sister Charito Salazar Buckly, nephews Ryan Neduelan (spouse – Lori) and Itan Neduelan (spouse – Lynn), daughter-in-law Rachel Moreland (spouse – Rob). Melinda is also survived by eleven (11) grandchildren, and three (3) great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her father Nicolas Salazar and mother Encarnacion Corregidor Salazar.
 
A Graveside Service to honor Melinda's life will be on Thursday, May 9th, 2024, at Palmer Cemetery in Palmer, Texas. The service will begin at 1:00 PM to celebrate the beautiful life of a woman who brought so much love and laughter into the world. Melinda will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the joy she brought to those around her.
 
In Melinda's memory, may we all treasure the moments spent together as she did and find comfort in the enduring love she shared with each one of us. Rest in peace, dear Melinda. Your light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts forevermore.
