Pearl Taylor Barfield went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2022. Pearl was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Joseph and Katherine (Katie) Bruno. Pearl liked to tell the story of even though she was born in Des Moines, technically she was a Texan. The family lived in Houston at the time. Her mother, Katie, liked her old doctor in Des Moines and took a bus there for him to deliver Pearl. Once Katie got there, she found out the doctor had died. Pearl led a full life. She had different talents and could learn just about anything new. She was a telephone operator when you had to have operators connect calls, she had a successful café in Kemp, and she was a bank teller for many years for Republic Bank in downtown Dallas. She was actively involved in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Kaufman. She had a great love for animals. She bred miniature dachshunds and Boston Terriers for many years. She also bred birds, Quakers and Conures. She loved to teach the birds to talk or to just sit and watch them. Her latest adventures would include her and William’s pet buzzards they fed. If they do not feed them by the time they thought they should be fed, they would come up to William’s shop door to find out what the hold up was. What she loved most was her family. Pearl is survived by her husband William Barfield; son Freddie Caldwell, Jr and his wife Kathy; daughters: Sherry Caldwell Smith; Barbara Taylor Farner; Linda Barfield; Melinda Barfield Bennett and her husband Jody; Melissa Barfield; grandchildren: David Caldwell, Craig Caldwell and his wife Priscilla Ysasi Caldwell, Brady Tallas and his wife Terra, Andy Tallas and his wife Natalia, Ray Johnson, Ashley Bennett Gaskey, Natalie Bennett; great grandchildren: Presley, Christopher, Allison, Olivia, Sophie, Bennett, Charlie, Marley, Jax, Michelle, Kenzie, Dakota, Blaze, Lucy, Brooklyn, Robert and Preslee; great-great grandchild James; additional family members remaining are her nieces Patty Mabry and her husband Jim and Jeanne Kenny; nephews Joe Bruno, Jr. and wife Betty and Jimmy Drummond and his wife Heather and Lloyd May; and many great nieces and nephews.
