Russell Scott Roland

Russell (Rusty) Scott Roland, 65, formerly of Forney Texas and recently of Canton Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 27, 2022.  Rusty was born on February 15, 1957 to Brooksy and Betty Nichols Roland in Dallas Texas.  He was raised in Forney and attended Forney schools where he played football and graduated in 1975. On September 4, 1981 Rusty met the love of his life, Karen McFarlin, at the Sonic Drive-in in Kaufman Texas after both had attended high school football games for their hometowns. Rusty and Karen married April 17, 1982 and spent over 40 wonderful years together.

Rusty was associated with the Cici’s Pizza Franchise for 27 years as a dedicated Operator.  Rusty was a licensed HVAC Mechanic.  He started his career after high school and worked for Master Air Conditioning Company for 20 years.  He has been employed with Kaufman ISD for 15 years as the HVAC Mechanic for the District. He was very meticulous about his work and responsibilities.  He never left a job unfinished!

Rusty was a selfless man.  He helped anyone in need and was always checking in on the elderly.  No matter how busy he was, he never told anyone “no.”  He made many lasting friendships and treated everyone he came in contact with with respect. 

He was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Forney.

Rusty was preceded in death by his parents Brooksy and Betty Nichols Roland and sister Risa Roland Adam. Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife Karen McFarlin Roland, sons Russell Roland and wife Tiffany and their children Rance and Rhett, and Rodney Roland and wife Julie and their son Dylan Ray, brothers Rick Roland and wife Kathy and Robby Roland all of Forney, brother-in-law Mike Adam, one uncle, Edward Nichols and wife Ann of Paris Texas, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.   He will be missed by all.

The family would like to thank our families, First Baptist Church of Forney, Kaufman ISD Maintenance Department and Methodist Hospital Dallas for the love and care we have received during this difficult time.
